About Dr. Yaw O.N. Ansong-Ansongton
As a physician-scientist and Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley, I pursue bioengineering research to unravel mitochondrial medicine. My toolkit includes CRISPR, microfluidics, and single-cell multi-omics, which I leverage to elucidate diseases like Sickle Cell and overlooked rare illnesses. With a passion for marginalized communities, I bridge research between the Innovative Genomics Institute at Berkeley and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital under the co-advisement of Dr. David Nguyen and Dr. Angela Rivers. The mission of this blog is to explore essential ideas spanning research, technology, medicine, and social and governance issues. I welcome conversations on how we can work together to push progress for overlooked communities.
